Outside of the Butlins resort, lies the quintessential English seaside town of Minehead. Alongside its picturesque sandy beach and promenade (ideal for summer strolls) lie a unique brand of stores, tea-shops, ice-cream parlours and restaurants, bars and cafes. On Fridays, there is an out-door farmer's market in Minehead.
Also, on Tuesdays - opposite Brewer’s Fayre and Tesco's (two minutes drive from site) - there is an outdoor market, where you can grab yourself a bargain.
Shopping-wise, there are several supermarkets very close by, catering for all needs.
For golfing enthusiasts, the Minehead & West Somerset Golf Course is directly adjacent to the caravan park and offers discounted rates for guests (please enquire with the club).
For those of a historic persuasion, Dunster is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval villages in England, with origins dating back to the times of Bronze and Iron Age Britain. Situated in a sheltered valley, the Yarn Market stands proudly as a reminder that Dunster was once an important centre for cloth manufacture. There are many attractive and historic features and of course, Dunster Castle.
Today the village has a fabulous selection of restaurants, pubs and tearooms plus a wide range of independent galleries and shops - more than enough to keep you occupied for at least a whole day!
For both train enthusiasts and a great family day out, there is the West Somerset Railway, complete with steam engines and the longest heritage railway in England; within a quarter of a mile from your caravan.
Lynmouth sits straddling the confluence of the West Lyn and East Lyn rivers that flow into the Bristol Channel. It boasts a small harbour, as well as a good range of select shops, inns and restaurants. The Exmoor coastline in this area is stunning and very dramatic - the moor quite literally meets the sea.
Once a royal forest, the National Park covers 267 square miles of amazing landscapes, including moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland which has been shaped by nature and people over thousands of years.
Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors!
